FDE Dispatch: Forward Deployed Engineer travel index, October 24, 2026 snapshot Files fde-travel-2026-10-24.json aggregate travel figures: mention rates, stated percentage bands, role-family medians, remote x travel, top stating employers, raw value counts Used on https://fdedispatch.com/forward-deployed-engineer-travel/ Population The same 725 postings from 121 employers counted on the salary, job titles and locations pages (rows with in_page_stats = true in fde-postings-2026-10-24.csv in this folder): Forward Deployed Engineer, deployment strategist and FDE management titles from public Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday job boards, pulled October 24, 2026. Recruiting agencies and duplicates removed. Method travel_mentioned = keyword match for travel language in the posting text (a mention is not a hard requirement). travel_pct_stated = the raw percentage string as posted when one appears (for example "20%", "25 – 75%", "0 to 100%"). Upper and lower bounds are parsed from that string. For a single value, lower and upper are the same. For a range, lower is the first number and upper is the last. Bands are assigned on the stated upper bound: 10% or less, 11-25%, 26-50%, over 50%. Employer-once figures take one median upper bound per employer that states a percentage. Caveats Accenture's 12 stating postings all say "0 to 100%". That string is a boilerplate range covering any travel amount. Those 12 rows are reported separately and are excluded from the band table used for "over 50%" claims on the page, so the 100% upper bound does not inflate that band. Databricks (88) and Palantir (67) dominate stated values. The page also reports the figure excluding both employers (158 postings at 28 employers). Remote in this file is the salary-page remote field (191 postings). The locations page uses a wider remote read (199 postings, 27.4%).
