LangChain Forward Deployed Engineer: what the postings ask for
Published
LangChain posts its forward deployed seats under the title Deployed Engineer. In FDE Dispatch's October 24, 2026 snapshot of public job boards it has 17 open, the sixth-most of 121 employers. All 17 are engineer titles in three tracks: 11 Deployed Engineer seats, 4 Professional Services seats and 2 Early Career seats. 14 are US-located and 7 list remote. 16 of the 17 mention evals, against 18.3% of engineer-title FDE postings, and all 17 mention AI agents. The 14 US postings list pay with a median midpoint of $225,000, against $216,104 across US engineer-title postings; posted ranges are not offers. FDE Dispatch is not affiliated with LangChain; the figures come from LangChain's public job postings.
What LangChain calls the role
LangChain titles the role Deployed Engineer, and none of its 17 postings say Forward or FDE. Across the 725 FDE-family postings in the snapshot, 21 titles say Deployed Engineer without Forward or FDE: LangChain's 17 and 4 Partner Deployed Engineer seats at Cognition. FDE Dispatch counts them as FDE-family because the title rule includes deployed engineer, so search job boards for both spellings.
The 17 postings split into three tracks by title. 15 of the 17 titles name a city or region in parentheses, and one names the Federal team.
| Track | Postings | Places in the titles | Years of experience stated | Travel stated (upper bound) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deployed Engineer | 11 | Atlanta, Bay Area, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Federal, NYC, Raleigh, Seattle, Singapore (APAC), UK | not stated | 3 state: 40% (2), 25% (1) |
| Deployed Engineer, Professional Services | 4 | one seat listing 10 US cities, NYC, San Francisco, APAC | 4 | 4 state: 20% (4) |
| Deployed Engineer (Early Career) | 2 | San Francisco, NYC | 1 | 2 state: 40% (2) |
| Total | 17 | 16 US cities, Singapore, London | 6 state a figure | 9 state a percentage |
The years column comes from the requirements index: the 4 Professional Services postings give 4 years, the 2 Early Career postings give 1 year, and the other 11 give no years figure. More early-career FDE postings are on entry-level Forward Deployed Engineer jobs, and title variants across employers are on Forward Deployed Engineer job titles.
What the postings ask for
LangChain's postings mention AI agents at 2.4 times, Kubernetes or Docker at 3.7 times and evals at 5.1 times the rate of FDE postings overall. All 17 mention AI agents and 16 mention evals, against 41.0% and 18.3% of the 563 engineer-title postings in the FDE requirements index (posting text re-fetched October 25, 2026).

| Python | 16 (94.1%) | 76.2% |
| TypeScript or JavaScript (incl. Node.js) | 16 (94.1%) | 56.5% |
| Evals (LLM or model evaluation) | 16 (94.1%) | 18.3% |
| Customer-facing work | 15 (88.2%) | 74.1% |
| LLMs or generative AI | 13 (76.5%) | 43.9% |
| AWS, GCP or Azure | 12 (70.6%) | 35.9% |

| SQL | 0 (0.0%) | 10.5% |
| Computer science degree | 0 (0.0%) | 22.2% |
Among the 8 employers with 10 or more postings in the index, LangChain has the highest share for evals (OpenAI is next at 69.0%), for Kubernetes or Docker (Accenture next at 25.0%), for TypeScript or JavaScript and for AI agents (Salesforce next at 97.4%). None of the 17 mention RAG, retrieval or vector search, SQL or a computer science degree. The one posting with few matches is Deployed Engineer (Singapore) - APAC, whose text flags agents, LLMs, travel and startup experience only. A mention is not a hard requirement.
Where the roles are, and how many are remote
14 of the 17 postings (82.4%) are US-located on the published locations index. The other 3 are two Remote - Singapore seats and one London seat, so 17.6% are outside the US, against 40.1% across all 725 postings. The US postings list 16 cities between them: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Las Vegas, Nashville, New York, Raleigh, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC. The Professional Services seat with no place in its title lists 10 of those cities.
7 of the 17 (41.2%) list remote, against 27.4% across the snapshot. That ties LangChain with Cursor for the third-most remote-listed FDE postings, after Databricks (95) and ElevenLabs (9). The remote seats are Charlotte, Chicago, Raleigh, Federal (Washington DC), the 10-city Professional Services seat and both Singapore APAC seats. The Ashby workplace field lines up with the remote flag on every posting:
| Workplace field | Postings | Remote-listed |
|---|---|---|
| On-site | 7 | 0 |
| Remote | 7 | 7 |
| Hybrid | 2 | 0 |
| Blank | 1 | 0 |
| Total | 17 | 7 |
The on-site seats are Atlanta, Bay Area, Boston, NYC, UK and both Early Career seats; the 2 hybrid seats are Professional Services in NYC and San Francisco. Seattle leaves the field blank. Metro and remote figures for every employer are on Forward Deployed Engineer jobs by location.
16 of LangChain's 17 Deployed Engineer postings mention evals, against 18.3% of the 563 engineer-title FDE postings in the requirements index. Every FDE Dispatch deployment ships with an evaluation suite behind it.
How much LangChain Deployed Engineers travel
9 of the 17 postings mention travel, and all 9 state a percentage. The median stated upper bound is 25%, against 30% across all employers on how much forward deployed engineers travel. The figure depends on the track: all 4 Professional Services postings say up to 20%, both Early Career postings say up to 40%, and 3 of the 11 Deployed Engineer postings state a figure (Bay Area 40%, Singapore 40%, Chicago 25%). The other 8 Deployed Engineer postings do not mention travel.

What this means if you are preparing for a LangChain loop
- Evals. 16 of 17 postings mention evaluation of LLM or agent output. Have a worked example of how you tested an agent before a customer relied on it, what you measured, and what changed after launch.
- Deployment tooling. 12 mention Kubernetes or Docker and 12 mention AWS, GCP or Azure. Be ready to walk through how an agent gets packaged and run inside a customer's cloud account.
- Track. Professional Services postings state 4 years and up to 20% travel; Early Career postings state 1 year and up to 40%. Read the track in the title before you decide which seat fits.
Round formats for FDE loops are on the FDE interview loop, explained, and practice prompts on FDE interview practice questions.
Method and data
Population: the 17 LangChain rows with in_page_stats = true among the 725 FDE-family postings from 121 employers counted on the salary, job titles, locations and travel pages. Snapshot pulled October 24, 2026 from LangChain's public Ashby board. Requirements come from the October 25, 2026 requirements index, which re-fetched the posting text; all 17 LangChain postings are in it.
Track: title text (Professional Services, Early Career, else Deployed Engineer). US-located and remote-listed use the published locations-index definitions: a posting is US-located when every listed location is in the US, and remote-listed when the board marks it remote or a listed location contains Remote. Travel upper bound = largest number in the stated percentage string, the rule on the travel page. US pay: US-only location, USD range posted, first range in the posting text. These 17 listings were live on the October 24, 2026 snapshot; counts are open postings on one day and do not measure headcount.
